Sardonyx has been known since ancient times as the stone of abundance, virtue and fearlessness. The mineral is also used in modern gemstone medicine to strengthen these themes. The mental receptivity is strengthened by the mineral, the perceptive ability is improved.
The gemstone eggs of Sardonyx are about 4.8cm in size.
The red-brown part of Sardonyx is also called Sard. The name Sardonyx, like the mineral itself, is composed of the black and white Onyx and the orange-brown Sard; the spelling Sardonix is therefore not correct.
