Barite received its traditional name "barite" due to its relatively high density for a non-metallic mineral. The mineral is used in petroleum extraction and, above all, in medicine: As an aggregate, it reduces the radiolucency of walls, which is used, for example, in the construction of X-ray rooms, and is therefore considered a classic protective stone.
The barite specimens are approx. 7 -12 cm in size.
Origin of the rough stones from Barite: Morocco
The mineral Barite received its name after the Greek word barĂ½s (heavy); the spellings Barit, Baryth, Barite or Bariet, which are occasionally encountered in retail as well as wholesale trade, are therefore not correct.
