The light purple, mostly transparent spheres of this gemstone strand of amethyst have few inclusions.
The diameter of the amethyst balls is 12mm, the whole strand is about 40cm long.

The name amethyst is derived from the Greek word amethystos (counteracting intoxication) and refers to the ancestral belief that with an amethyst one would be protected against the intoxicating effects of wine and other alcohol. Spellings such as Amathyst, Amethist, Ametist, Ametyhst, Ametyst, Amnethyst, Amthyst or Amythist are therefore incorrect.
