The natural salt comes from the famous Salt Range in the north-east of Pakistan (Punjab province), which is around 160 km from Islamabad and 260 km from Lahore. The salt mines around Kehwra are located in a foothill of the Himalayas, but are not directly associated with the Himalayan massif. Alexander salt has therefore also become known in the trade as "Himalayan salt" or "Himalayan salt" as Salt for Cooking.
Importers in Switzerland must have an import permit from the Vereinigte Schweizerische Rheinsalinen for the Halite.
